At Waterview Animal Hospital chemotherapy is an option we offer to our patients that have been diagnosed with certain cancers.

What is chemotherapy for dogs?


Chemotherapy is cocktail of medications given to the patient that have the ability to kill cells that cause cancer.

Will chemotherapy make my pet sick?


Chemotherapy side effects in dogs and cats are not as evident as in humans. If side effects do occur you may notice decreased appetite, vomiting and diarrhea. Hair loss does not usually occur in dog and cat patients.

How is chemotherapy administered in dogs?


Chemotherapy is given to our patients via IV catheter. Your pet will have IV fluids placed, and will stay on them for a few hours after the chemotherapy medication is given.

What is the cost of canine chemotherapy?


If chemotherapy is needed a treatment protocol with costs will be discussed with you during an office visit.
